WMF Art Nouveau Punch Bowl

This rare WMF etched glass punch bowl is the very epitome of Art Nouveau design. It has all the romantic elements – the beautiful etching on the glass bowl is of flowers and foliage and it sits on a brass base with scrolled feet with a matching lid and finial on top.

The marking on the bottom is WMFM which would date it between 1886 – 1903.  WMF became famous for its Art Nouveau style and the M, following WMF, denotes the German word for brass which is ‘Messing’.
It has a lovely worn patina and silver plating on the inside where the glass sits. It is in excellent overall condition for its age although the lid is somewhat wonky!
