A pair of 18th Century Seamed Bell Metal Candlesticks, on Circular Bases
£160.00
A very handsome pair of 18th century neo-classical bell metal candlesticks with seamed columns. The fluted column stems rise from circular, stepped bases where the golden rose patina has been formed over many years. The stepped bases have a further embossed bead border going all around the inside rim. Bell metal is associated with being a form of bronze and was used in the casting of bells as well as the finest castings of quality decorative items including candlesticks.
These period pair of candlesticks are in excellent condition with normal wear commensurate with age and use. They are characteristic of fine English quality craftsmanship prevalent at the end of the 18th century.
